Driveways up in the hillier sections north of Altadena Drive can be steep or narrow, so we always talk through placement before drop-off. Altadena is unincorporated LA County, so permitting rules are a little different than the City of LA, and we’ll walk you through it.

Standard rental is 8 days from the day we drop it off. That covers most projects without anyone feeling rushed. If you need more time, just let us know at least 2 business days before your scheduled pickup and we’ll extend it. A quick heads-up is all it takes.

No hazardous materials: wet paint, solvents, oils, batteries, tires, or refrigerators with freon. Dried, hardened paint is fine, it’s only liquid paint that’s the problem. Electronics may need special handling, so ask first. Everything else is fair game: household junk, construction debris, yard waste, remodel materials.

If the bin sits on your driveway or private property in 91001, no permit needed. If it has to go on a public street, Altadena is unincorporated LA County, so the encroachment permit comes from LA County Public Works rather than LADOT. We can point you to the right form and walk you through it.

In most of Altadena we place heavy-duty rubber pads under the bin to protect concrete, pavers, and stamped surfaces from staining or pressure cracks. On tight driveways, steep slopes, or step-down approaches the pads aren’t always practical. Dispatch will flag it during scheduling so there are no surprises on drop-off day.
